The Letran Earth Awareness Force’s (LEAF) competition which promotes environmental awareness through a fashion show entitled Ecorampa has just crowned its new ambassadors this afternoon. The winners were Moesha Molly Villanueva of the Hospitality Management area and Juan Paulo Calderon of the Engineering area.

The show features outfits designed and made by students using recyclable materials. The theme this year is ‘Philippine festivals’ from which the outfits were inspired.

This year’s pageant was preceded by a street dancing competition which were also derived from festivals celebrated in the country. The Hospitality Management area grabbed the championship in this contest. The candidates were judged on how well they modelled the designs, apart from the attires’ appeal and how the materials prescribed by the organization were used.

There was also a question and answer portion which tested how the 12 candidates would face and give solutions to environmental issues as students. Part of the funds raised for the tickets sold for the popularity votes will be donated to typhoon relief efforts of the Colegio as well as in upcoming environmental projects to be spearheaded by LEAF inside and outside the campus.

According to the LEAF’s org adviser Engr. Jeremy Flores , the activity’s aim is to engage the students in working for the restoration and protection of the Earth, promote environmental justice, advocate environmental awareness, and encourage them to live as stewards of the environment.
